Active members of the Society For Theriogenology are veterinarians dedicated to animal
reproduction. All species of animals are included from domestic animals (cattle, cats, dogs, goats,
horses, pigs, and sheep) to exotic animals (alpacas, birds, fish, llamas, marine mammals, pocket
pets, rabbits, reptiles, rodents and zoo animals).
The missions of the Society for Theriogenology are related to reproduction and include
establishing and promoting standards of excellence amongst veterinarians, animal scientists,
academicians and students; providing a variety of forums to disseminate emerging information to
veterinarians and students; serving as a global resource for scientific exchang; fostering client
education and awareness; and encouraging a network for collegial exchange
Dr. Lopate is proud to be an active member of this association. She recently served a 3 year term
on the board of directors. She is actively involved in the new branding program for the Society
and she currently serves on several planning committees.
The American College of Theriogenologists
The College has been recognized by the American Veterinary Medical Association since 1971.
The purpose of the College is to advance knowledge in undergraduate, graduate and
postgraduate education; research; and service in theriogenology through the establishment of a
certifying agency to recognize veterinarians as specialists in theriogenology; the encouragement of
scientific investigation and research and the reporting of these; the development of continuing
education methods and programs for disseminating information to and increasing knowledge of all
veterinarians, especially practitioners; the development of graduate study and residency programs;
and the establishment of high standards and guidelines for professional attainment and
specialization.
As a member of the American College of Theriogenologists, veterinarians are certified through
examination to have attained specific and advanced knowledge in reproduction in all species of
animals.

Planning Committee and actively mentors candidates for the credentialing examination.
